ABOUT US...

Jake Robinson was my best friend since we were 10 years old. Big Jake and I started playing music together since we were 16. We played as a duo for 6 years until I moved South, where I played in many bands. Jake stayed home and played in many successful bands. The first real band we played in was "Big Jake and the Phat Cats". Since we both played bass, we were always playing in different bands. In this band we could switch between acoustic guitar and bass...

Many players have come and gone over the years, all of them very good players. Paul Turnbull came to us a couple of years ago, We both loved his guitar work. We had been through some drummers when we found Kevin Korneff, likewise we both loved his work. Jake passed away on September 30, 2006. A great loss to the Pittsburgh Music community, leaving a hole in the soul's of all who knew and loved him.We decided to continue playing, renaming the band "The Phat Cats". That's when Jeff Conner came along. A very talented piano and guitar player along with great singing abilities. I'm sure Jake would have loved him. So take an evening and come hear us.We'll be around.

Thanks,
Rick Leopardi
